There are certain rules for children to follow in orthodontic treatment. Parents are supposed to monitor their children carefully.
The rules are as follows:
- Tooth cavities must be treated and gums must be in full health prior to commencing orthodontic treatment.
When treatment begins, orthodontist applies an appliance to the child based on their diagnosis. You will need to take very good care of this appliance and teeth as described, and brush
- teeth regularly. Especially around brackets glued onto teeth with fixed devices, bacteria plaque grows rapidly. This should not be allowed to happen.
- Dentist will see their patient monthly on average after treatment starts. Therefore, biggest duty falls on children in orthodontic treatments. Hence, children need to be willing and cooperative for orthodontic treatment to be effective. Parental pressure frequently triggers adverse reactions.
- Dentist’s advice given during regular checks should be followed.
- Do not miss your appointments.
- If appliances break or split, or if glued appliances come out, treatment will be interrupted. In such cases, contact your dentist immediately.
Weariness during reinforcement treatment should not be the case; you must regularly use your appliance.
